First off, our guide Fred, should run for PM of Australia. He never ran out of stories during the entire day and his enthusiasm was contagious. The highlight of the day was our visit to Great Ocean Ecolodge and our first hand, up close, kangaroo experience. We saw large numbers of them in a field and then walked the bush and saw many, many more. The videos I took look like something out of National Geographic. All the while, Fred was telling stories and allowing each guest to experience this incredible visit in their own way. At the tour's end, Fred took us to the center of Brisbane where we met and fed some tree possums. Magical, just magical! When people ask me my favorite thing about our five week trek, the Great Ocean Road tour and our guide, Fred, immediately comes to mind. I see they're suspending tours until May. I strongly suggest you book an early May tour with Fred. He rocks.

Our group had 3 busses and We were fortunate to get the smallest bus with a thoughtful and knowledgeable driver Ricarda. The day with Ricarda felt like a private tour, and she pointed out all the important things not to miss, with a story about each new view. We saw loads of Koala, and Kangaroo, and parrots. The twelve apostles, and the gorge right up the road were beyond description for their power and splendor, It was a very good day. I highly recommend requesting Ricarda as your guide.

This tour was great! What made it extraordinary was my tour guide Fred. He is very friendly, very knowledgable, and also funny! I travel quite often and go on tours, and there's no one as good as him from my experience. He has stories to tell from him doing these tours for days! I couldn't get enough of them. Besides his overall personality, he will always ask if the group needs any toilet, food, or picture taking breaks. The tour itself left me in awe. All of the places my tour group saw were so much better to see and experience in person rather than in pictures! If you book this tour, I hope you get Fred as your tour guide! -"Christian" (my name is actually Christopher, but I've been called various names of Chris___ that I'm very used to it.) Cheers!

We took the small group Great Ocean Road tour from Melbourne. Our guide Toby was informative and personable. He was early to our hotel for pick-up, waiting for us curbside. After a second stop for additional passengers we were on the way. We had a number of stops for photo opportunities as well as a mid morning stop at the lighthouse for coffee/tea/hot chocolate and midday lunch stop. We were able to see koalas in the wild, kangaroos at the ecolodge and parrots/cockatoos. The 12 Apostles site was beautiful as was the gorge but this beauty of this trip is really the journey along the coast. It was a 12 hour day but we are very glad that we took this tour and had Toby as our guide.

Fred made the day enjoyable with his endless supply of anecdotes and willingness to answer all our questions. I particularly enjoyed the walk in the bush where we saw kangaroos in the wild as well as the wonderful coastal scenery. Fred obviously knows a lot about the areas we visited and was keen to share his enthusiasm with the group. It is a long day but there are several stops along the way and Fred stressed that this was our trip so if we wanted to stop and look at something he’d try to accommodate it.

My review is a long overdue - we visited Australia in September 2019. Going to Australia was a dream which suddenly came true for us and it was an incredible experience! We "experienced" the Great Ocean Road trip and I am saying "experienced" as it is a lot more than a trip only. Fred is the most amazing guide in Australia and probably beyond (we took another day trip while in Sydney and the guide was nowhere near what this adventure was about) . We felt his love and pride of Australia, we enjoyed his captivating stories (he needs to write a book!) , the stunning and breathtaking scenery, the unique flora and fauna (kangaroos in the bush that got scared of our raincoats:), koalas on the trees, birds we fed including we saw the famous kookaburra several feet away from us). I mentioned fauna - if you take this trip with Fred, do not forget to ask him to show you the close encounter-surprise at the end of the trip (it is not mentioned in the official trip description!) but if you love animals as much as we do, you'll LOVE IT (my 12 year old son was head over heels with those little furry creatures and I was too:). My advice for everybody - no matter what you planed to do while in Melbourne, this tour is a MUST and definitely with Fred as your guide!

We had the pleasure of touring the Great Ocean Road with Fred. Although the weather wasn’t the best, Fred made our day very enjoyable with his interesting stories and experiences. Fred knows the route and all the best viewing spots. He was able to find kangaroos in the bush as well as koalas in the trees. We look forward to our trip to Phillips Island today with Fred. We’re sure it will be equally enjoyable.

This was the highlight of our trip. Our guide, Fred is the best guide in whole Australia, he entertained us with the most intriguing stories, very patient in all stops and such a great guy to talk to and share experiences. I absolutely recommend doing this, specially with the guide Fred you'll have the time of your life, get the chance to see kangaroos up close and amazing landscapes.
